Tulsi Vivah is considered one of the holy and auspicious days in the Hindu Calendar. Hindus observe it as a day to celebrate the formal wedding of the Holy Basil or Tulsi Plant with the Lord Shaligram, the personification of the Lord Vishnu. This day marks the start of the Hindu wedding season in India. November 15th, 2021 Monday. The Dwadashi Tithi will begin at 6:39 AM and end at 8:01 AM on November 16th, 2021. The Tulsi plant is often considered the resemblance of Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of prosperity and wealth. Tulsi Vivah is celebrated on the Dwadashi or day of the Lunar Cycle during Shukla Paksha in the Kartik month. This day is also called Devuthani Ekadashi. Women who are not married celebrate this festival to get the desired partner, and the married women celebrate it for the blessed married life. It can be celebrated either at home or in the temple. The festival begins with giving a bath to the idol of Lord Vishnu and the Tulsi plant. Then, the idol is decorated with garland, and a dhoti is draped around it. And Tulsi plant will be decorated with bindi, jewelry, and a red color saree. Finally, a thread is used to tie the knot between them. The end of the celebration is marked with the devotees showering the couple with the rice. Consuming rice is prohibited during this day. After this ceremony, the prasad or bhog is being distributed to the devotees.
