In Vrindavan and Mathura, this festival of Krishna Janmashtami has great significance. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born in Mathura and spent his childhood in both Vrindavan and Mathura. Due to this reason, the child form of Lord Krishna is worshipped on this day with Makhan-Mishri, Panchamrit, Gangajal, etc. There is also a ritual of placing “Ladoo Gopal” in the cradle and swinging it at midnight.
