When is Maha Shivratri 2026?
As per the Hindu Lunar Calendar, the festival of Maha Shivratri falls on the Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi. And, according to the English Calendar, it is usually observed in February or March.
In 2026, this auspicious day will be observed on 15th February, 2026, Sunday. The Chaturdashi Tithi will begin on 15th February 2026 at 5:04 PM and will end on 16th February 2026 at 5: 34 PM. The Nishita Kaal Puja Time will be observed on 16th February 2026, between 12:09 AM and 1:01 AM.
Maha Shivratri: Significance, Rituals, and Celebrations
Maha Shivratri is the auspicious night marked by worshipping Lord Shiva and meditating. The devotees observe fast on this day by taking Sankalpa for self-determination and an obstruction-free fast. They should break the fast the next day, after sunrise. During the fast, the devotees should consume Sattvik food or keep the Nirjala or without water, as per their capacity.
