Lord Ganesh is believed to be the Lord of good fortune, wisdom, knowledge, and prosperity. It is believed that worshipping him helps remove all the obstacles and hindrances coming in the way and leads to new beginnings. Lord Ganesh was born as the son of Mata Paravati and Lord Shiva.
As per the English Calendar, this auspicious festival falls in August or September. The devotees wait for this festival with great energy and enthusiasm. The celebrations happen for ten days starting from Ganesh Chaturthi. On this day, the devotees bring Lord Ganpati idols to their homes. The devotees also organize grand pandals with unique decorations and celebrations.
When is Ganesh Chaturthi 2024? Date, Day and Puja Muhurta
This year, in 2024, this sacred festival will fall on the 7th of September Saturday, and the celebrations will last for ten days till the 17th of September, Tuesday. It means Anant Chaturdashi will fall on 17th September, and on this day, the devotees will bid farewell to Lord Ganesh. It is called Ganesh Visarjan.
The Chaturthi Tithi will start at 3:01 PM on 6th September, Friday, and will end at 5:37 PM on 7th September, Saturday. The midday Lord Ganesh Puja muhurta is between 11:03 AM and 1:39 PM on 7th September 2024. During this sacred time, the devotees can bring Lord Ganesh’s idols to their homes with incredible energy and enthusiasm and perform all the rituals with care, devotion, and dedication.
Ganesh Utsav 2024: Significance, Celebrations and Rituals
It is believed, as per the old mythological books, that Lord Ganesh was born in midday. The festival starts with bringing Lord Ganpati idols at home and in public. During the days of Ganesh Utsav, Lord Ganesh is considered as the honored guest. The devotees adorn his idol with new clothes, flowers, jewelry, etc. The devotees offer Modak or Laddoos as bhog to Lord Ganesh.
According to the best astrologer, it’s considered auspicious to offer “Nariyal” to him. During the ten days, there are grand celebrations, and the devotees recite mantras, aartis, and many religious songs. During the day of Ganesh Visarjan, they bid farewell to him, prayed for forgiveness for any mistake, and thanked the Lord for visiting their homes. Some devotees immerse the idols in the water within one and a half days, or the third day, or the fifth day, or the seventh day, or the eleventh day.
